Easybet South Africa Terms and Conditions
Easybet is operated by Easybet Group (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2022/541017/07), with its registered address at 3rd Floor, 186 Loop Street, Cape Town, 8001. The company is licensed and regulated by the Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board under bookmaker license 10191733-003.
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) define the legal relationship between Easybet and its customers, governing the usage of Easybet services, account creation, betting procedures, and legal obligations. Customers should read these Terms carefully, as their acceptance is mandatory before using Easybet’s services.
Eligibility to Bet
To open an account or place a bet with Easybet, individuals must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- The applicant must be a natural person. Corporate entities such as companies, close corporations, or similar are not permitted to open accounts or place bets;
- The individual must be at least 18 years of age;
- The betting account Registration Form must be completed accurately, thoroughly, and truthfully. Only once Easybet has reviewed and approved the form will the individual be accepted as an account holder;
- The applicant must not be listed on the register of excluded persons, as outlined in section 14 of the National Gambling Act, 2004;
- The applicant must not be in breach of Easybet’s Terms and Conditions.
By completing and submitting the betting account Registration Form, individuals confirm the following:
- They have read, understood, and agreed to Easybet’s Terms and all applicable Rules related to betting on sporting events, horse racing, or any other lawful contingency as published on Easybet’s platform;
- They acknowledge that submitting the Registration Form constitutes a formal application requesting Easybet to process their information and consider them for account approval.
These requirements ensure compliance with legal frameworks and promote responsible betting practices for all Easybet users.
Account Registration and Security
Customers warrant that all information provided in the Easybet betting account Registration Form is true, complete, and up-to-date. They undertake, in writing, to inform Easybet promptly of any changes affecting their identification, contact details, or creditworthiness. Easybet retains the sole discretion to:
- Accept or decline any application for a new betting account for any reason;
- Cease accepting bets from any customer, without obligation to disclose reasons;
- Decline an application if the Registration Form is incomplete, contains incorrect or materially omitted information, or if any supplementary information requested (before or after submission) is not provided in the required format or within specified timeframes.
Each customer is solely responsible for safeguarding their account credentials (account number, email, password, PIN) and must:
- Hold no more than one Easybet betting account in their own name;
- Refrain from opening accounts on behalf of others;
- Use only their personal account to place bets;
- Not permit any third party to place bets using their account details.
Customers must notify Easybet immediately if they suspect their account information has been lost, stolen, misappropriated, or otherwise compromised. Until notification is received, the customer remains liable for all bets placed and transactions conducted on their account.
Once approved, each customer’s betting account is identified by a unique account number — their mobile telephone number — and secured by a password. Customers logging in with details that do not match those on record will be unable to access their account and must contact Easybet for assistance.
FICA Compliance
Easybet operates under the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, Act 38 of 2001, as amended (“FICA”), which mandates stringent identity verification, customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, record-keeping, and reporting requirements. These measures ensure that Easybet’s services are not exploited for money laundering, terrorist financing, or other unlawful activities.
Verification Procedures
Before opening any betting account, Easybet must conclusively establish and verify a customer’s identity. Prospective customers are required to submit:
- Full names and SA Identity Number or Passport Number;
- Email address and mobile number(s);
- Source of funds intended for betting.
In addition, all new customers must provide documentation demonstrating both their identity and South African residential address. Acceptable forms include:
- Identity documents or Smart ID cards (front and back), current and valid, and, at Easybet’s discretion, certified copies;
- Driver’s license (front and back) when an ID document is unavailable, provided it is unexpired and clearly shows the bearer’s photograph, full name, date of birth, and identity number;
- Valid work permits or asylum/refugee permits, current and bearing the customer’s photograph and name;
- Proof of address, such as a utility bill dated within three months of submission.
Easybet may also require evidence of the origin of betting funds and will not activate any account until all FICA requirements have been satisfied.
Ongoing Due Diligence and Data Sharing
By completing Easybet’s online Registration Form, customers irrevocably consent to any identification, credit, and security checks that Easybet elects or is required to perform under FICA or other applicable legislation. Throughout the lifetime of the account, Easybet may share customer-provided details with authorized third-party service providers — such as identity-verification agencies, financial institutions, credit bureaux, and relevant government bodies — to facilitate these checks.
Suspension and Reporting Obligations
Easybet reserves the right to suspend or close any account that fails to meet FICA standards or if required documentation is not produced upon request. Furthermore, in accordance with FICA, Easybet must report any suspicious or unusual transactions — and any activities potentially linked to offenses under the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act, 2004 — to the Financial Intelligence Centre. Continuous adherence to these protocols underpins Easybet’s commitment to lawful, responsible betting in South Africa.
Bet Placement Rules
All bets must be placed online via Easybet’s official platforms and, once accepted by Easybet’s server, cannot be changed or cancelled. Stakes start from R1, and the odds shown at the moment of acceptance are final. A wager only becomes binding when recorded by Easybet’s system; until then, displayed prices are invitations to play rather than guaranteed offers.
Accumulator bets are allowed only when each selection is independent — any combination where one result influences another will be voided. Easybet retains the right to refuse or void any bet, impose limits, and correct pricing or timing errors at its discretion. Records of all transactions are maintained for legal compliance and dispute resolution, and customers are responsible for ensuring their wagers are correctly placed. By placing a wager, customers confirm they understand and accept these rules and any market-specific conditions published by Easybet.
Deposits and Withdrawals
Customers may fund their Easybet accounts using the following payment methods:
- 1Voucher (Payment voucher);
- OZOW (Electronic Funds Transfer);
- Visa and Mastercard (Credit and debit cards);
- Instant EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer);
- OTT (Payment voucher);
- BLU Voucher (Payment voucher);
- Zapper (Third-party e-wallets).
Withdrawals can only be made to the customer’s own verified bank account initially, subsequent withdrawals may be directed to approved e-wallets or Celbux. Before any withdrawal is processed, Easybet requires valid identity documentation, proof of residential address, and confirmation of banking details.
Withdrawal requests are completed within 72 hours of approval. Customers must fully wager their deposited funds at least once before requesting a withdrawal, and any funds mistakenly credited must be reported immediately and cannot be withdrawn. Customers should ensure their account details and documentation remain current to avoid delays.
Errors & Pricing Adjustments
Easybet actively audits every market it offers and corrects any pricing anomalies that arise — whether the glitch comes from a software malfunction or a simple human slip-up. If a wager is accepted at odds, lines, or conditions that are demonstrably inaccurate, the sportsbook may, at its sole discretion:
- Declare the stake void and refund it in full;
- Settle the ticket at the fair, correct odds that should have prevailed in the relevant market.
This safeguard ensures that all customers ultimately compete on an even playing field.
Taxes & Statutory Levies
Under provincial legislation, all successful bets on horse-racing events attract a combined tax and levy of 6 percent. For your convenience, Easybet withholds this statutory charge automatically at settlement, crediting the remainder to your balance so you never have to calculate or remit the amount yourself.
Intellectual-Property Ownership
Every logo, line of code, odds feed, data table, and article you encounter across Easybet’s websites, mobile apps, and APIs is protected by international copyright, trademark, and database-right laws. Those rights rest exclusively with Easybet or its official licensors. You may not copy, scrape, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or monetize any of that material without explicit, prior, written consent from Easybet.
Account Monitoring & Prohibited Conduct
To protect the integrity of its markets, Easybet continuously reviews betting activity and flags behavior that appears irregular or abusive, including — but not limited to — the following:
- Exploiting software bugs or obvious pricing errors;
- Deploying bots, automated scripts, artificial-intelligence agents, or VPNs to mask identity or location;
- Committing fraud, money-laundering, or any other illegal act;
- Placing bets while subject to contractual or regulatory restrictions (e.g., professional athletes, coaches, or traders prohibited from gambling on certain events).
If such conduct is detected, Easybet may freeze or close the account, void related wagers, confiscate unsettled winnings, and, where appropriate, cooperate with regulators or law-enforcement agencies.
Termination & Breach Remedies
Either the customer or Easybet may end the relationship at any time for any reason. Upon closure, the account holder must pay any outstanding liabilities immediately, while Easybet will release any cleared funds owed to the customer. The company reserves the right to terminate an account with immediate effect if it believes the user has:
- Violated these Terms and Conditions;
- Become insolvent or otherwise unable to meet financial obligations;
- Engaged in deceitful or fraudulent activity;
- Registered with a national self-exclusion or problem-gambling scheme.
Such termination may also entail the cancellation of open bets and the forfeiture of winnings derived from the offending behavior.
Dispute Resolution
Customers must initially report disputes through Easybet Customer Support ([email protected]). Unresolved disputes escalate to senior management within seven business days. If unresolved further, disputes may be referred to the Eastern Cape Gambling Board, whose decision is final. Customers agree to exhaust these internal channels before pursuing external legal action.
Self-Exclusion and Responsible Gambling
Customers may request temporary or permanent self-exclusion. Easybet supports responsible gambling, urging customers to seek help through the National Responsible Gambling Programme (NRGP) if experiencing gambling-related issues. Available self-exclusion options:
- Cooling-off (24-hour minimum);
- Temporary suspension (one-month minimum);
- Semi-permanent (three-month minimum);
- Permanent self-exclusion.
Customers may request exclusions via email to [email protected].
Bonuses and Promotions
Bonus funds cannot be withdrawn directly. Bonus bets yield only the profit portion of winnings, excluding the original bonus stake. Easybet may revoke bonuses due to abuse or violation of promotional terms.
Bonuses carry wagering requirements before withdrawal eligibility. Maximum bonus winnings are capped at R1,000 unless otherwise specified. Withdrawals from bonus winnings require prior real-money deposits and wagering compliance.
Limitation of Liability
Easybet’s financial liability is capped at the lower of two figures: either the exact amount you wagered on the disputed bet or the cash balance that was sitting in your Easybet account when the error occurred. The company will not pay for any indirect losses — such as foregone profits, downtime, or missed opportunities — especially if those losses result from events outside Easybet’s control, like internet outages, power failures, or third-party software glitches. By continuing to use the Easybet platform, you acknowledge that you do so entirely at your own risk.
Data-Privacy Commitments
Easybet processes personal information in full accordance with all applicable data-protection statutes and supervisory-authority guidelines. When you open or maintain an account, you give Easybet permission to perform identity, affordability, and anti-money-laundering checks — sometimes by cross-referencing your details with secure third-party databases or credit-reference agencies.
If mandated by law, regulation, or a valid court order, Easybet may disclose relevant customer records to licensing authorities, financial-crime units, or other competent bodies. Comprehensive information about the categories of data collected, the lawful bases for processing, the duration of retention, and your rights to access or erase that data is set out in Easybet’s standalone Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these Terms and Conditions.
